TeaChat is an web application developed in COGS120: Intro to Human Computer Interaction. The application was built in 10 weeks under the topic of “community”, geared toward rethinking one aspect of student communities.
Essentially, TeaChat allows people to participate in thoughtful, engaging conversations with strangers. By choosing to either host a chat or join a chat, people can meet each other over a common topic.
The process in designing and building this web application had us following many design thinking principles from Scott Klemmer such as needfinding, paper prototyping, making personas, etc. Many of the notes and lessons learned from his class can be found here.
TeaChat was built as a simple node.js application. Source code is available here.
