Student Voice is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that aims to revolutionize education through the voices and actions of students.
Not too long after my first year in college, I became frustrated with the current state of higher education – expensive, impersonal, impractical, etc. I had shared my thoughts about education before, but I decided that it was time for me to stop complaining about it and actually do something.
Not too long into my research, I came across a student run organization known as Student Voice, and was intrigued by what they were doing. The impetus was that we would be able to revolutionize education if only students had a bigger voice in education decisions, from what happens in the classroom to how schools are fundamentally structured.
I quickly got involved by completely redesigning the website.
Prior to redesigning the website, I spent months engaging with the Student Voice community, learning more about education, and meeting students and educators to better understand the community that I would be designing a website for. Many of the insights gathered from these conversations found their way into the design of the website as well as the day to day operations of the organization.
Student Voice LIVE! was an event put on in New York City this past September, gathering education stakeholders from all over the United States for a discussion about issues facing modern day education.
